Oil pump «dozen» has an index of 2112. It differs from the 2108 oil pump in the original aluminum cover, in which there is a boss and a hole for mounting the crankshaft position sensor. The gears and cast iron housing are the same as in the 21083 engine.
The oil filter absorbs both wear particles of rubbing parts and combustion products of the working mixture, while supplementing them with elements of its own combustion. For «dozen» oil filters 2108 are suitable. You can’t look inside the oil filter, but the quality of the filtration plays a significant role. This will be discussed below. Therefore, we can offer a filter of the German company SCT-SM-101.
You need to check the oil level regularly, if the oil consumption is small - less often, and if it is large, then more often. When checking, pay attention to the color of the oil. On the measuring ruler, the letters and marks should be well lubricated through the oil. The oil level must be between the marks «max» and «min». In summer, the level can be kept above the middle: when there is a large amount of oil, engine cooling is better. In winter, on the contrary, the oil level should be closer to «linden», accelerates heating.
There are many reasons for the rapid decline in oil quality and the increase in oil consumption. But the main reason is how fast the driver drives, the number of accelerations and braking.
Oil for «dozen» should be well washed, cleaned and lubricated in winter and summer
The first and most important rule for owners «dozen» - your «Friend» doesn't like bad oil. And that's why. In a healthy, normal engine, a small amount of oil enters the cylinder and burns there. And especially in low-grade (i.e. cheap) the oil contains a large amount of impurities, mainly phosphorus, which, with exhaust gases, enter the surface of the oxygen sensor and destroy zirconium dioxide; sensor readings will be abnormal. These impurities also adversely affect the performance of the converter. Therefore, owners of dozens, especially on which oxygen sensors and a converter are installed, should forget about cheap oils. It is better to change the oil immediately after buying a car. Waiting 2000 kilometers before the first MOT is not worth it. Bad oil or a not very clean oil pan can affect the operation of these devices after 100 kilometers.
The choice of oils is now huge, and the current state of the art in automotive technology requires the use of new generation lubricants that can provide the highest performance of your «friend». A significant impact on the life of the engine and fuel consumption, especially multi-valve injection, has a quality level of engine oil. Unfortunately, many drivers cannot choose the right oil for their car and do not have sufficient knowledge to determine what kind of oil is in their canister.
What kind of oil and how to choose it for «dozen»
Modern domestic oils quite withstand comparison with foreign counterparts. They are currently marked, as well as according to international standards, SAE and API. First of all, oils should be selected according to the level of their performance properties; these oils are designated in accordance with the API system with two letters. The first letter S means: for 4-stroke petrol engines. If the first letter is C, then for diesel engines. The second letter can be from A to Z (nine letters), indicates the quality class. The farther the letter in the Latin alphabet is from its beginning, the higher the quality. For your «friend» You need good quality oil. Quality groups SG, SH, SJ are recommended for VAZ-2110 and VAZ-2112 engines. Foreign SG class oils are now less common. They focus on the production of SH, SJ quality oils of the API standard.
Domestic mineral oils belonging to the SG category can also belong to the highest quality group. These oils include domestic oils «Lukoil-Standard», «Spectrol» etc. Mineral oils with synthetic additives (semi-synthetics) quality categories SG, SJ have more additives, the degree of purification is higher. These oils include «Lukoil-Lux», «Esso-Ultra», «Lukoil-Super» and etc.
Synthetic oil of the SJ quality category has a significantly extended temperature range, it cleans the channels better and retains detergent properties longer. These include «Lukoil-Synthetic», «Mobil 1» and etc.
In these new generation high performance oils, the base oils (in semi-synthetic or fully synthetic) replaced with high quality artificially synthesized base oils. The chemical and physical characteristics of synthetic oil are more uniform than those of mineral oil. This uniformity provides excellent lubrication at low temperature starts and excellent protection of it in all, including extreme operating conditions. Therefore, whether you start your car on a cold winter morning or rush along a country highway at high speed, semi-synthetic, or even better synthetic, will provide you with the reliability that you want to count on when purchasing these oils.
Another criterion for choosing an oil is its viscosity. It is necessary to proceed from the requirements of the engine and the ambient temperature. Viscosity is the main property of the oil and one of the main indicators when choosing an oil. The increase in viscosity stabilizes the pressure in the lubrication system. The oil will flow in the right amount to the rubbing parts and be held (the most important) between them. The higher the viscosity, the stronger the oil film. In addition, oil consumption for waste is reduced. And we have already said that «dozen», especially with a converter, oil waste is harmful. For example, medium-viscosity oil is almost not consumed when driving in the urban cycle. But the operation of the engine on a country road at high speeds (at high speed) will result in high oil consumption. Fans of fast driving need to have an oil of class 50 or even 60, which has the highest viscosity, up to 26 centistokes at a temperature of 100°C. But an increase in viscosity leads to an increase in fuel consumption.
Just as mineral oil can have a viscosity of class 50, synthetic oil can have a viscosity of class 60. The latter have the highest viscosity.
The international SAE classification corresponds to the viscosity-temperature properties of oils. It subdivides oils into winter, summer and all-weather. For example, winter SAE 10W, summer SAE 40, all-weather SAE 15W-40. The numbers indicate the viscosity class. The letter W is the first letter in the word Winter - winter.
Family operating experience «tenths» models says that in terms of viscosity, it is best to use 5W-30 oil during break-in. In the future, multigrade oils 10W-40 or 5W-40 can be used. Mineral, semi-synthetics or synthetics, choose for yourself, their differences have been considered.

When to change the oil
We have already considered the need for the first oil change immediately after purchase. After the break-in time has elapsed, i.e. after a run of 2000 kilometers, the oil must be changed a second time. Then maintenance conditions require that the oil be changed every 10,000 kilometers. One of the benefits of a good synthetic oil is that it lasts longer and needs to be changed less frequently.
Please note that when the engine is running on some cars, blue smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe and oil consumption is increased, which means that the engine runs on both gasoline and oil. It burns out a lot, it depends both on the oil itself and on the malfunction of the car and its driving style. The measuring ruler shows that the oil is heavily contaminated and diluted with fuel, as the piston group is badly worn. Therefore, there is a need to change the oil ahead of time to a more viscous one.
At present, oil condition sensors have been developed and used on imported cars. These sensors send a signal to the instrument panel. As the properties of the oil deteriorate, the presence of impurities in it, etc., light bulbs light up or, conversely, there are fewer burning bulbs. This is a signal that you need to change the oil. Some cars have indicators that show how many miles are left before an oil change.
So far, there are no such sensors on our cars - therefore, monitor the condition and oil consumption yourself.
Why you need to regularly flush the lubrication and fuel system
We considered the question of how the operation of the lubrication system affects the performance of the engine. And a simple replacement of one oil with another will practically not improve these indicators if you do not flush the lubrication system.
After flushing the lubrication system with special oils, the compression increases and the thermal clearances of the valves are restored. This normalizes the operation of the engine, improves the process of mixing the components of the working mixture and purging the cylinders. The service life of the parts of the gas distribution and crank mechanisms is increased.
During the flushing of the fuel system, resinous deposits in the injectors are removed, while the operation of the injectors is normalized, which leads to more complete combustion of the fuel, detonation is eliminated and exhaust emissions are reduced, and engine life is increased, especially with a fuel injection power system.
Before changing the oil and oil filter, flush the lubrication system, and preferably the injection system.
