The engine temperature data is sent to the computer from the temperature sensor, and it makes a decision on the mixture composition depending on its readings. It is bad for the engine when the engine is cold and bad when it is hot. There are many negative consequences from both a cold and a hot engine. But the main thing is that the power drops in both cases, and the engine service life is reduced, fuel consumption and the amount of harmful impurities in the exhaust gases increase, and the heater performance deteriorates. The cooling system is a classic closed type, with forced cooling of the coolant. It consists of a water pump, radiator, thermostat, expansion tank and engine temperature sensor, which is also a fan switch, radiator fan and coolant sensor.

The water pump on the 2110 and 2111 engines is "octal", and on the 2112 - a water pump with the index 2112.

The electric fan is designed to blow air over the radiator when the engine is running at stops and when driving at low speed. It is interchangeable with other VAZ models.
The radiators on the "tens" are larger in size, the mount is different than on the "nines", and there is no fan switch sensor; as already mentioned, its inclusion is monitored by the on-board computer, which turns on the fan at an engine temperature of 105°C and turns it off at a temperature of 102°C. The temperature is higher than the boiling point of the coolant. It does not boil because closed-type systems are not connected to the atmosphere. Therefore, you need to monitor the expansion tank cap. It must reliably close the cooling system.

The expansion tank on the "ten" is no different from the expansion tank on the "nine".
Thermostat of another generation
One of the important elements in the cooling system is the thermostat. It directs the coolant to the radiator when the engine temperature reaches 85°C.
The thermostat with index 2110 looks more like thermostat 2101, since it does not have an additional thin air pipe. Air enters the system from the tee, which is located next to the thermostat. This thermostat is shown in the color insert.

The internal design of the model has been slightly modified. A device is provided that allows the liquid to wash the thermal power element from several sides. On the 2108 there is no such device, so the thermostat begins to open the valve with a slight delay. The 2110 thermostat is installed on carburetor engines 2110 and 2111.
Thermostat 21082 is a thermostat of another generation. It differs from 2110 both externally and internally. The main difference is that it makes the coolant flow more intensively through the heater radiator and the efficiency of this heater increases. This thermostat is installed on engines 2111 and 2112 with a fuel injection system. This thermostat is shown in the color insert.

Recommendations for their selection of antifreeze and antifreeze should
Tosol and antifreeze should ensure reliable engine operation at all air temperatures. Recommendations for their selection are as follows.
Any liquid can be used as a coolant. Tap water has a freezing point of 0°C, which is a very high temperature for a coolant, and a boiling point of 100°C, which is a very low temperature; but the heat capacity, i.e. heat transfer, of water is higher than that of antifreeze. According to this indicator, tap water is a very good cooling liquid. But the water has very high hardness. It contains calcium and magnesium salts, which cause scale and sediment, and they put the system out of order. The chlorine content causes great harm to the system, which exposes the system elements to corrosion. Therefore, this water practically cannot be used in the cooling system. The next liquid is spring or well water. It also has very high hardness. River or lake water has medium hardness.
The least hard water is rain or snow. Distilled water and water obtained after melting ice in the refrigerator have low hardness, so it is better to use them to get there when there is no special cooling liquid.
Currently, the highest quality cooling liquids are antifreezes and antifreezes.
Tosol and antifreeze are ethylene glycol liquids with the addition of various additives that improve the performance properties of these liquids. The main indicator that we can check is density. It should be within 1.065-1.085. Using any density meter, you can immediately determine whether you are being deceived or not. Although such an indicator as crystallization temperature should not be higher than -40°C, and the boiling point should not be less than 100°C; of course, it matters, especially in winter.
At present, there are a lot of domestic and imported antifreezes and tosols. The main thing is to be sure that it is not a fake. Therefore, you need to buy where you can make claims. Of the domestic ones, CONSOL-cynep and TOSOL-super are good antifreezes for the "tens", but they are good mainly for the central part of Russia.
The operating manual specifies the names of antifreezes that can be used in the "ten". The main ones are the following: TOSOL A-40M, OZHK LENA, SPECTROL, ANTI-FREEZE.
