Fuel and air filters (VAZ-2110)

The fine fuel filter of the fuel injection system differs significantly from filters of other systems. Its task is not to let through particles larger than 10 microns, otherwise the injectors will not work. They work in a system under pressure, the injectors must be protected from dirt. Therefore, the requirements for fuel filters must be increased. Replacing the filter is much easier, anyone can do it than cleaning the injectors, and even more so changing them. Filters for "tens" are larger in volume than carburetor ones, and are located in a metal case. The filter is attached to the case on a special bracket that covers the filter. The filter is connected to the fuel system with threaded fittings.

The standard filter has the index 212-1117010-03 or 02. They are produced by different factories. But it is better if you select an imported fuel filter for your "friend", aviation and rocket filters are very good. They can clean gasoline from water. And you can attach any.

The fuel injection system places increased demands on air filters. They must filter air cleaner. Therefore, these filters have a larger filtering surface. They are rectangular in shape. The upper and lower bases of the filter element, the so-called mating surface, are made of soft polyurethane, which allows for better sealing of the joint of the filter element with the filter housing. The filter element, made of highly porous cardboard impregnated with special resins, can be in a metal mesh to increase the rigidity of the frame, or without it. You need to be careful when tightening the nuts on the filter cover and not overtighten them if there is no metal mesh.
