Electronic carburetors of the 21083-31 or 21083-62 brand were installed on the VAZ-2110 and VAZ-2111 engines; these are regular VAZ carburetors for front-wheel drive cars. They are manufactured here under a license from the French company "SOLEX". They differ from the 21083 by a semi-automatic starting device, idle speed solenoid valves and the main metering system. They are controlled by an on-board computer.
In European countries, and in other countries of the world, strict measures are being introduced to protect the environment and human health from harmful impurities emitted by cars. Since 2000, stricter Euro-3 standards have already been introduced in Europe. And the strictest rules have been introduced in the USA and Canada.
Car engines equipped with a carburetor do not even meet the Euro-1 standards. For this purpose, carburetors are equipped with electronic control. But they only meet the requirements of Euro-1. At the same time, the technical characteristics, and therefore the operational ones, have decreased somewhat. But the most important thing is that after a certain mileage, the initial standards are reduced. And the requirements of the Euro-3 rules: even after 80,000 kilometers of mileage, the engine must meet the initial standards, without appropriate adjustments. Consequently, carburetor engines are a thing of the past, although in terms of their operational characteristics, a car with a well-adjusted carburetor engine is almost as good as cars with injection.
"Tens" with carburetor engines are no longer produced. As can be seen from the table of cars produced by the car plant, the production of "tens" with a carburetor engine has been decreasing every year. The carburetor fuel system is being replaced by a system with distributed injection, and not only on "tens".
