Procedure
Check the condition and operability of units, components, systems and devices:
1. Condition of paintwork and protective coating of wheel arches. Repair any damage found.
2. Availability of tools and completeness of the vehicle.
3. Are there any oil and fluid leaks from the vehicle units, and are their levels in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements:
- coolant (see subsections 2.8 and 3.2);
- brake fluid (see subsections 2.11 and 3.4);
- oil in the engine crankcase (see subsections 2.9 and 3.1);
- oil in the gearbox housing (see subsections 2.10 and 3.1);
- liquids in windshield washer reservoirs (see subsection 2.12).
4. Condition and fastening of wheels, protective covers of CV joints, steering gear, steering rod joints and suspension (front and back), ball joint dust boots and gear shift rod (see subsections 2.7, 3.22, 3.23 and 3.24).
5. The level and density of the electrolyte in the battery. If necessary, service it (see subsection 3.38).
6. Adjust (if necessary):
- ignition timing (see subsection 3.19);
- valve timing clearances (contact specialists);
- carburetor starter (contact specialists);
- carburetor idle system with CO and CH control (at specialized posts or service stations);
- tire pressure (see subsection 2.7);
- direction of the headlight beams (see subsection 3.39);
- alternator drive belt tension (see subsection 3.13).
7. Fastening high-voltage wires to the terminals of the ignition system instruments (see subsection 3.18).
8. Operation of the service and parking brake systems, as well as free travel of the brake pedal (see subsections 3.26, 3.29 and 3.37).
9. Are there any extraneous knocks when the engine, gearbox, clutch and wheel drives are running?.
10. Work (adjust if necessary):
- window lifters, door and hood locks;
- generator, control and measuring instruments, lighting devices, light and sound signaling, ignition system;
- seat belt locks, seat adjusters;
- windscreen wipers and washers (see subsection 2.20).
11. Condition and tension of the timing belt (see subsection 3.16).
12. Clutch pedal travel (for adjustments, please contact specialists).
13. Front wheel alignment angles (at service stations).
