Door opening seals are made of sponge rubber in the form of a tube with a process to which a plastic facing edging is sewn. The outer surface of the edge has a decorative embossing. A metal perforated frame is inserted inside the edge, which provides fastening of the seal on the flanges of the door openings.
The openings of the windshield and rear windows, as well as the openings of the sidewall windows of cars 2102 and 21021, are sealed with rubber seals with special tongues.
Door glass seals are made of special rubber profiles, lower sliding glass seals are made of a plastic profile, which ensures easy and reliable installation of seals. Water that has seeped under the door glass seals flows into the door and pours out through the drain holes. The mechanisms of locks and power windows are protected from water by a plastic film fixed on the door.
The air intake box is sealed against the ingress of smoky air from the engine compartment with a rubber seal, which is held on the flange by a metal perforated frame in the lower part of the seal. The trunk lid seal has a similar design.
When removing and installing seals with metal frames, it is not allowed to collapse the frame or form corrugations on the seals.
Seams of resistance spot welding, which are welded to stamped body parts, do not give a tight connection. They are subject to intense corrosion, especially on bends of sheets with small rounding radii, in places of metal overstress, and especially when moisture gets in. Welded seams were sealed against moisture and dirt penetration with D-4A plastisol after priming the body. The hardening of the plastisol is carried out during drying after painting.
After replacing individual parts of the body, after welding and applying the primer, the seams on both sides are coated with plastisol.
Sealing gaps in the joints of body parts is carried out by applying non-drying sealing mastic 51-G-7 at the points shown in Fig. 205.
Pic. 205. Places for applying non-drying sealing mastic:
1 - joints of the rear fenders with the rear panel (inside the body); 2 - corners of the joints of the trunk floor with the rear floor; 3 - floor joints for a spare wheel and a fuel tank with a rear panel, with spars and rear fenders; 4 - joints of the bases of the front pillars; 5 - joints of the side panels of the bulkhead with the upper amplifiers of the bulkhead shield; 6 - joints of the bulkhead with the side panels of the bulkhead; 7 - joints of the front fenders with headlight covers and front panel; 8 - casing joints (from the inside); 9 - joints in the corners of the lower front panel; 10 - corners of the joints of the wings and the frame panel of the wind window; 11 - joints of the amplifier and the front pillar of the sidewall.
Possible malfunctions of the sealing system, their causes and remedies are given in Table. 40.
