Oil pump — disassembly and assembly (VAZ-2108)

For disassembly, secure the cover 9 (see figure 10) of the pump in a vice and unscrew the plug 6 of the pressure-reducing valve. Take out the spring 5 and valve 4. Unscrew the screws securing the pump housing 1 to the cover, disconnect them and take out the driving 3 and driven 2 gears. Press out the self-tightening seal 8 of the crankshaft from the cover.

Before assembling the pump, lubricate the gears, the housing in the gear area, the sealing rubber ring 10 of the oil receiver tube and the pressure reducing valve 4 with engine oil. Lubricate the outer diameter of the seal with engine oil and press it in until it stops (so that the sealing edge does not adhere to the old place). Then carefully fix the cover in a vice, install gears in housing 1, apply liquid sealant KLT-75T to the surface of the housing mating with the cover, and fasten the housing with the cover with screws. Install the pressure-reducing valve 4, the valve spring, and screw in the plug 6. Before installing the plug, be sure to place a sealing aluminum ring 7 with a thickness of 1.5±0.2 mm under it.

After assembling the pump, the gears should rotate smoothly and without jamming when turned by hand.
