- check the tightness of the system;
- tighten the fastenings of units and devices; check the operation of the thermostat;
- adjust the engine speed at idle with exhaust gas toxicity control;
- check the operation of the forced idle economizer and the carburetor starter.
Every 15,000 km of run it is necessary:
- check the operation of the thermostat;
- replace the fuel fine filter;
- check the tightness of the connections;
- replace air filter element (when operating in dusty conditions, change after 10,000 km of run);
- adjust the idle speed of the engine with a check of the toxicity of exhaust gases;
- check the operation of the forced idle economizer and the carburetor starter.
Every 30,000 km of run, tighten the fastenings of assemblies and devices.
Every 45,000 km of run it is necessary:
- rinse and blow out the carburetor parts;
- adjust the fuel level in the carburetor float chamber.
Due to the use of complex technological equipment, it is recommended to perform engine idle adjustment, checking the operation of the thermostat, forced idle economizer and carburetor starting device only at car service stations.
Checking the tightness and tightening the fastening of units and devices
Visually check the tightness of the power supply system. Tighten the screw clamps on all hoses in the system. If fuel lines, hoses or instruments are found to be damaged, replace them with new ones. Inspect the fuel tank carefully along the junction line of the half-hulls. If a leak is found, solder with soft solder. You can only solder a well-washed and steamed tank that does not contain gasoline vapors to prevent their ignition during soldering. Tighten the fasteners of the power system devices. Tighten the carburetor mounting nuts only on a cold engine.
Checking the operation of the thermostat
Check the damper position at the removed thermostat at temperatures of +25 and 35°C. In the first case, the damper should completely block the cold air supply pipe, in the second case, close the heated air pipe. If this is not the case, adjust the damper position by rotating the thermo-force element and repeat the test. Upon completion of the check, seal the thermostat by applying enamel to the stem of the thermo-force element.
Replacing the filter element of the air filter and fine fuel filter
To replace the filter element of the air filter, press the spring latches of the cover, unscrew the fastening nut and remove the filter cover. Replace the filter element with a new one and install the cover so that the arrows on the air intake pipe and on the cover itself are directed towards each other. This setting is necessary to reduce intake noise.
To replace the fuel fine filter with a new one, loosen the hose clamps on which the filter is installed. When installing the filter, pay attention to the direction of the arrow marked on the filter housing. The arrow must point in the direction of fuel flow (to the fuel pump).
When replacing the fine filter, take precautions to prevent gasoline in the engine compartment from getting on components and parts.
