Recommendation. Replace the throttle cable if it is stuck in the sheath or damaged
Warning! Start work only after the engine has cooled down to a safe temperature (not higher than 45°C).
Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. On engines 2112, 21124 and 21114 remove engine trim (see "Decorative overlay of the engine - removal and installation").
3. Remove the air supply hose to the throttle (see "Throttle valve - actuator adjustment").
Comment. The hose will interfere, especially when installing a new cable.
4. Using a slotted screwdriver, pry off the retaining spring and remove it from the sector.
5. On engines 2112, 2111 and 21114 remove plastic cable end (3), unscrew the nut (2) and remove the cable from the bracket.
On engine 21124 remove the lock plate of the cable sheath and pull the cable sheath out of the rubber holder (see "Throttle valve - actuator adjustment"). We remove the cable together with the rubber holder from the bracket for attaching the cable sheath.
7. Turning the sector counterclockwise until it stops, remove the tip of the cable from the sector slot.
8. On an 8-valve engine we stretch the cable with the sheath through the plastic clamp or cut the clamp with wire cutters (installation requires a new clamp).
Note. On a 16-valve engine, the operation is as follows:
8. Under the instrument panel, prying with a screwdriver, disconnect the tip of the throttle cable from the pedal lever "gas".
9. We pull the end of the cable out of the passenger compartment through the hole in the partition of the engine compartment and remove the cable along with the rubber holder.
Installation
Install the throttle cable in reverse order.
After installing the cable, we adjust the throttle actuator and install the air supply hose (see "Throttle valve - actuator adjustment").
