Most electrical circuits are protected by fuses. Electric motors of gearmotors (windshield wipers, tailgate glass, headlights - if installed) protected by automatic bimetal fuses. Injection power circuit (VAZ-21214 engine) protected by a fusible insert made of wire with a reduced cross section (1 mm2). Battery charging circuits, ignition circuits are not protected (VAZ-21213 engine), engine start, circuit «alternator - ignition switch - fuse box». Powerful Consumers (starter, headlights, cooling fan motors, electric fuel pump, etc.) connected via a relay.
The fuses are grouped in two fuse boxes located on the left under the instrument panel. The fuse rating and the circuits protected by them are indicated in the table.
Injection system fuses (VAZ-21214 engine) located in a separate block on the left sidewall under the instrument panel.
A 30 A fuse protects the power supply circuit of the radiator electric fans, and three 15 A fuses protect the electric fuel pump and control unit, respectively (DC input) and circuits of the main relay of the injection system (see also Injection engine control system).
Attention! When repairing the electrical system, disconnect the terminal «minus» battery (with engine off).
Before installing a new fuse to replace a blown one, find out and fix the cause of the blown fuse.
Do not use oversized or homemade fuses as this may cause a fire.
Due to the risk of short circuits, do not pry blown fuses with metal tools (screwdrivers), if the corresponding circuits are not de-energized.
