Camshaft drive (camshaft drive belt front cover removed): 1 - toothed pulley of the water pump; 2 - tension roller; 3 – a gear pulley of a camshaft; 4 - belt; 5 - generator drive pulley (on the crankshaft)
You will need: key "at 17".
Disconnect the wire from the terminal "–" battery. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position (see subsection 10.1.). If noise is heard at the camshaft drive belt installation site, it is likely that the tension roller bearing has failed. Remove the roller, check the performance of its bearing and replace the roller if necessary.
1. Loosen the tension roller nut.
2. Turn the tension roller to loosen the belt tension.
3. Finally loosen the roller fixing nut. Please note that there is a spring washer under the nut.
4. Remove the roller from the pin.
5. Remove the spacer ring located under the roller so as not to lose it.
6. Check bearing performance. If seizing, axial play or traces of lubricant leakage from the bearing are noticeable when turning the bearing, replace the tension roller.
7. Install the new idler pulley in the reverse order of removal. In this case, the holes for a special key should be directed outward. Adjust the tension of the camshaft drive belt (see subsection 10.3.3.).
