Removal and installation of a camshaft
The steps to remove the camshaft are the same as above for removing the cylinder head (see sect. 1.5.2). Only here it is not required to drain the coolant, unscrew the spark plugs and disconnect the hoses and wires from the assemblies mounted on the cylinder head. When replacing the camshaft, the valve levers are also replaced.
Removal and installation of a chain of a drive of a camshaft
To remove the chain, drain the coolant from the engine cooling system, remove the air filter and battery. Disconnect the choke drive cable from the carburetor, and the carburetor throttle drive rods from the lever on the cylinder head cover. Remove the radiator with hoses and thermostat, remove the fan by unscrewing the fastening nuts.
Remove the cylinder head cover and turn the crankshaft until the mark on the camshaft sprocket aligns with the mark on the bearing housing (see fig. 56), and the marks on the alternator drive pulley with a long mark on the camshaft drive cover (see fig. 57).
Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt. Loosen the cap nut of the chain tensioner, wring out the tensioner rod with a mounting blade and fix it with the cap nut. Remove the camshaft sprocket.
Loosen the alternator mount and remove its drive belt. Turn on IV gear in the gearbox, unscrew the ratchet and remove the generator drive pulley from the crankshaft. Remove the camshaft drive cover with gasket by unscrewing the nuts securing the cover to the cylinder block and the bolts securing the oil sump to the cover. Turn out the restrictive pin 6 (see fig. 16) and remove the camshaft drive chain.
When installing the chain, first put the chain on the sprockets of the crankshaft and the oil pump drive shaft and wrap the restrictive pin 6 of the chain. Then install the camshaft sprocket by putting a chain on it and aligning the alignment marks (see fig. 56), and the sprocket mounting bolt is not completely tightened.
Loosen the cap nut of the chain tensioner, rotate the crankshaft 2 turns and tighten the nut. Check match marks (see rice. 56 and rice. 54). If the marks do not match, then reinstall the chain by adjusting the position of the camshaft sprocket. If the marks match, then finally tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt and install all removed components and parts on the engine and car.
After replacing the circuit, check and adjust the ignition timing, the tension of the generator drive belt, as well as the drives of the air and throttle valves of the carburetor.
Replacing the chain tensioner shoe
To remove the shoe, perform all of the above operations to remove the camshaft drive cover, but do not remove the camshaft sprocket. After removing the camshaft drive cover, unscrew the bolt securing the shoe to the cylinder block and remove the shoe.
After installing the shoe and all parts in place, check and adjust the tension of the chain and belt of the generator drive, the ignition timing and the drives of the air and throttle valves of the carburetor.
Replacing the chain guide
To remove the damper, remove the air filter and disconnect the wire from the terminal "minus" battery. Disconnect the choke drive cable from the carburetor, and the carburetor throttle drive rods from the lever on the cylinder head cover.
Loosen the cap nut of the chain tensioner, wring out the tensioner rod with a mounting blade and fix it with the cap nut. Unscrew the bolts securing the chain damper to the cylinder head and remove it.
After installing a new chain damper in place, adjust the chain tension, install the removed parts in place, and adjust the drive of the air and throttle valves of the carburetor.
