After removing the brake drum and unscrewing the shield mounting nuts 1 (see fig. 79) brakes, using puller 67.7801.9516 (Fig. 80), remove the axle shaft assembly with the oil deflector, axle shaft bearing mounting plate, bearing and locking ring. Then remove the brake shield and sealing ring. If replacement is necessary, remove the oil seal from the axle beam flange.

Then perform the same operations on the other end of the beam, after which remove the gearbox.
The rear axle is assembled in the reverse order of disassembly. In this case, the axle bearing seal is coated with Litol-24 grease before installation, and the threads of the gearbox mounting bolts are coated with sealant, having previously degreased them and the threaded holes in the rear axle beam. When installing the axle seal into the beam flange, use the A.70157 mandrel, the punch of which has a diameter of 44 mm, and the diameter of the seat belt under the seal is 29.4 mm. Lubricate the seat belt of the axle flange under the brake drum and the surface of the axle flange in contact with the drum with graphite grease or LSC-15 grease to facilitate removal of the drum during subsequent disassembly. The brake drums are installed after installing the rear axle on the car and securing the cable ends to the parking brake drive levers.
