Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal — Removal and Installation (VAZ-2108)

Before starting to replace the seal, place the car on a lift and remove the gearbox (see section. "Transmission"). Loosen the bolts securing the clutch housing to the flywheel and remove the housing together with the pressure plate. This releases the driven clutch disk.

Lock the flywheel with the lock 67.7820.9526 (see figure 29), unscrew the flywheel mounting bolts and remove it. Remove the old rear crankshaft oil seal from the holder and put the new oil seal on the 67.7853.9572 mandrel. Then move the oil seal from the mandrel to the crankshaft flange and press in the new oil seal using the 67.7853.9581 mandrel, lubricating it with engine oil. A pipe with an outer diameter of 104 mm and an inner diameter of 81 mm can be used as a mandrel. Install the flywheel in place in the same position as it was on the engine, i.e. so that the mark (hole) near the rim is opposite the axis of the connecting rod journal of the 4th cylinder. Having locked the flywheel with the 67.7820.9526 lock, secure it with bolts, installing a washer under them.

Install and secure the clutch on the flywheel, positioning the driven disk with the protruding part of the hub towards the pressure plate. Center the disk relative to the flywheel using the A.700081 mandrel (see figure 60) and install the gearbox (see section. "Transmission").
