Rear brakes — assembly and installation (VAZ-2121)

Install the wheel cylinder on the brake shield and connect the brake fluid supply pipe to it, tighten the nipple nut until it stops

Attach lever 2 (to the shoesee fig. 6-18) manual drive of the shoes and install the shoes with the spacer bar 9. Install the stands with springs and lower cups, then install the upper cups and fix them on the stands by turning them in one direction or another. Make sure that the ends of the shoes are positioned correctly in the sockets of the wheel cylinder and on the brake shield.

Install the brake shoe tension springs and attach the end of the brake shoe manual drive cable 5 to the lever 2.

Install the brake drum, having previously lubricated the axle shaft seating belt and the surface of its flange that comes into contact with the drum with graphite grease or LSC-15 grease, and tighten the drum mounting bolts to the limit. Applying grease will facilitate subsequent removal of the brake drum.

If the wheel cylinder was removed during disassembly, remove air from the rear brake drive circuit.
