Removal and installation
To remove the pedal bracket:
- remove the steering shaft bracket as directed in section «Steering»;
- Disconnect the pusher of the vacuum booster from the brake pedal by removing the retaining clip 26 (pic. 6-8) and taking out the finger 24;
- disconnect the wires from the brake light switch;
- unscrew the nuts securing the brackets of the vacuum booster and pedals to the front end of the body, and remove the bracket assembly with the vacuum booster and the master cylinder of the brake drive, and then the bracket assembly with the clutch and brake pedals.
Pic. 6-8. Clutch and brake pedal bracket details:
1 - bracket; 2 - nut; 3 - spring washer; 4 - inner bushing of the brake pedal; 5 - outer bushings of the brake pedal; 6 - brake pedal; 7 - remote bushing; 8 - retraction spring of the brake pedal; 9 - outer bushings of the clutch pedal; 10 - hook; 11 - cap; 12 - restrictive screw of the clutch pedal; 13 - nut; 14 - servo spring; 15 - inner sleeve of the clutch pedal; 16 - plate; 17 - release spring of the clutch pedal; 18 - washer; 19 - pedal pads; 20 - bolt; 21 - clutch pedal; 22 - cotter pin; 23 - clutch pedal pusher; 24 - finger; 25 - pusher; 26 - locking bracket.
Install in reverse order. At the same time, make sure that the pusher is installed correctly in the socket on the piston of the clutch master cylinder.
Disassembly and assembly
To disassemble, remove the spring 14 of the clutch pedal servo drive, remove the release springs 8 and 17, unscrew the nut 2 of the bolt 20, remove the bolt and remove the pedals together with the bushings.
Use tool A.70017 to remove and install springs.
Reassemble in reverse order. When assembling, lubricate with Litol-24 grease the pedal bushings, the ends of the springs, the junctions of the pushers with the pedals and the end of the pusher in contact with the piston of the clutch master cylinder.
Check and repair
If the pedals are hard to move, inspect the working surfaces of the pedals, bushings and axles.
If shallow scratches or traces of oxidation are found on the surfaces of metal parts, wipe them with sandpaper; Replace worn outer plastic pedal bushings with new ones.
Check the elasticity of the springs. The length of the brake pedal spring must be: under force 12.8±1.96 N (1.3±0.2 kgf) - 80 mm, under force 117.5±5.88 N (12±0.6 kgf) - 160 mm.
The clutch pedal retract spring has a length of 130 mm under a force of 36.26-30.38 N (3.7-3.1 kgf) and 155 mm under a force of 49.49-42.63 N (5.05-4.35 kgf). The length of the clutch servo spring under force 219.52-180.32 N (22.4-18.4 kgf) should be 120 mm, under a force of 645.82-529.22 N (65.9-53.9 kgf) - 152 mm.
