Before starting work remove the air filter (see subsection 3.9.).
Clean and flush the parts of the crankcase ventilation system every 30,000 km. When the crankcase ventilation system is clogged, the pressure in the crankcase increases, which can cause oil to leak through the seals and gaskets.
1. Close the carburetor with a plug or a clean rag.
2. Remove the washers from both studs securing the head cover.
3. Loosen the two nuts securing the head cover.
4. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose of the small ventilation branch from the fitting of the head cover.
5. Loosen the clamp and remove the ventilation hose from the branch pipe of the head cover.
6. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose of the large ventilation branch from the fitting of the head cover.
7. Remove the washers from both studs securing the head cover.
8. Move the carburetor choke link aside.
9. Remove the rubber bushings from both studs securing the head cover (Replace loose, deformed and torn bushings).
10. Remove the cylinder head cover.
11. Remove the three screws securing the oil separator cover from the inside of the head cover.
12. Please note: there are flat washers under the screws.
13. Prying with a screwdriver...
14....remove the oil separator cover.
15. Loosen the filter element cover screw.
16. Carefully pry off the cover with a screwdriver.
17. Remove the filter element.
18. Remove the head cover gasket.
19. Unscrew the oil filler cap.
20. Thoroughly wash all parts with detergent and blow out the fittings on the cover with compressed air.
21. Disconnect the crankcase exhaust hose from the carburetor fitting. Carefully clean the fitting with a soft wire.
22. Check the condition of the head cover gasket, replace if necessary. Install all parts in the reverse order of removal.
