To exclude the possibility of loosening bolts and nuts, and thereby ensure traffic safety, it is necessary periodically, every 10 thousand kilometers, to control the quality of fasteners and, if necessary, tighten one or another bolt and nut. The operation is carried out on an inspection ditch or overpass, having a full set of wrenches attached to the car, and, in addition, a 30 mm wrench for tightening the steering arm nut, a 17 mm socket wrench with a hinge for tightening the nuts of the front engine mount to body cross member and torque wrench, which are not in the driver's tool kit.
Completing the description, works but maintenance,. I would like to recall one more operation that most drivers consider insignificant and therefore rarely performs, about lubrication. Although there are few such places on VAZ cars, they are also forgotten. These nodes are patient: they may not let you know about themselves for a long time, but, as they say, nothing is eternal. Do not wait for an emergency, but periodically lubricate:
- battery terminals and clamps, (after cleaning them from dirt and oxides) technical vaseline VTV-1;
- door hinges and hood lock drive rod with engine oil;
- rubbing parts of the door opening limiters, hinge and spring of the fuel tank hatch cover, hood stop and trunk lid torsion bars with VTV-1 technical vaseline;
- slides for moving seats with Fiol-1 grease;
- keyholes of doors and trunk lids with graphite powder (in summer) or technical vaseline VTV-1 in aerosol packaging (in cold weather, especially after washing), by blowing them out with compressed air.
