The cars have a more spacious interior than previous cars, although the length of the body has become shorter. The increase in the internal volume of the cabin did not make the car heavier, but on the contrary, it became 100 kg lighter than the car VAZ-2105. Improved visibility and reduced noise in the car.
The body is easily transferred from the passenger to the passenger-and-freight version. To do this, the folding shelf covering the luggage compartment is removed, the rear seat folds down. This significantly increases the area of the luggage compartment.
front seats «anatomical», made taking into account the shape of the human body, with headrests, with stepless adjustment of the inclination of the backrests. For a comfortable fit for the driver and passenger, the seats can move along the vehicle. For the passage of passengers to the rear seat, the backrests lean forward. When the headrests are removed, the backrests can be lowered to form a bed.
Windshield - three-layer, polished. Glass doors and sidewalls - bent, polished, hardened. The windshield, and on parts of the car and the rear door glass have wipers and washers.
Front and rear, the body is protected by energy-intensive bumpers made of microporous polyurethane foam.
The new interior heating and ventilation system is 2.5 times more efficient than the previous one. The heater is connected to the engine cooling system. The system of dampers and air ducts of the heater provides air supply to several points: to the upper part of the cabin, to the windshield and to the footwell of the front and rear passengers.
The rigidity of the body elements is chosen so that when the car hits an obstacle with the front or rear part, the impact energy is smoothly damped due to the deformation of these parts of the body, while the passenger compartment is not deformed. Among other elements of passive safety, seat belts, soft upholstery of the instrument panel and body pillars, the design of the exterior rear-view mirror, «glare-free» instrument panel glass and others. The fuel tank is placed under the body floor in a more protected area under the rear seat.
The body of the car is equipped with sun visors, an interior rear-view mirror, a cigarette lighter, an ashtray, a shelf for a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher (under the driver's seat), glove box, pockets on the upholstery of the front doors. The body has front and rear lugs for towing, rear wheel aprons.
A distinctive feature of the body (pic. 135) is the use of a large number of plastic parts for interior trim and exterior cladding.

To increase the durability of the body, its corrosion resistance has been increased. Parts that are most susceptible to corrosion are stamped from steel with a zinc-metal coating (coating with a mixture of an aqueous emulsion of chromic acid with zinc powder, followed by an epoxy resin coating with zinc powder). A primer is applied to the surface of the black body using the cataphoretic method, which improves anti-corrosion protection. An epoxy primer is additionally applied under the paintwork, which increases adhesion (connection) body coated. Hidden body cavities are treated with special compounds.
