Exhaust system [On engines 21114 and 2111, the systems are similar. The differences are respectively in the form of the connecting flanges of the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe.]: A - engines 21124 and 21114 (1,6i); B - engines 2112 and 2111 (1,5i); 1 - exhaust manifold gasket; 2 - exhaust manifold; 3 - clamping plate for the exhaust manifold mounting bracket; 4 - sealing gasket of the intake pipe; 5 - metal-graphite sealing ring of the intake pipe; 6 - additional muffler; 7 - suspension cushions for the additional muffler and the front part of the main muffler; 8 - spring of the coupling bolt; 9 - swivel coupling bolt; 10 - receiving pipe; 11 - locking plate of the intake pipe fastening nut; 12 - exhaust manifold mounting bracket; 13 - muffler sealing ring; 14 - main muffler; 15 - a pillow of a back suspension bracket of the muffler; 16 - additional muffler; 17 - clamp brackets; 18 - catalytic converter; 19 - receiving pipe; 20 - pressure plate; 21 - sealing gasket of the intake pipe; 22 - bracket
The connection of the main and additional mufflers is rigid, with a steel sealing ring.
The exhaust system is suspended from the body brackets on four rubber rings - pillows. The suspension pads of the additional silencer and the front suspension of the main silencer are interchangeable. The main muffler suspension cushion is reinforced.
Features of the exhaust system of the engine 2112 (1,5i 16V)
The VAZ-2112 engine complies with EURO II standards for exhaust gas toxicity.
The exhaust manifold of the VAZ-2112 engine is cast iron. The connection between the exhaust manifold and the block head is sealed with a two-layer metal gasket. The exhaust pipe flange is connected to the exhaust manifold flange with six studs and nuts through a heat-resistant (metal-asbestos) gasket. The catalytic converter is located under the bottom of the car between the exhaust pipe and the additional muffler. The bottom of the car is protected from heating by a metal screen installed above the converter. The oxygen concentration sensor is installed at the bottom of the intake pipe in front of the converter. The connection of the intake pipe and the neutralizer is made articulated.
Features of the exhaust system of the engine 21124 (1,6i 16V)
The VAZ-21124 engine, depending on the configuration, meets the EURO II or EURO III standards for exhaust gas toxicity.
The exhaust manifold of the VAZ-21124 engine is steel. The catalytic converter is combined with the exhaust manifold into a single unit - the catalytic manifold (collector). This reduces the catalyst warm-up time to operating temperature and increases its efficiency. Two oxygen concentration sensors are installed in the catalytic manifold - before and after the converter (in the EURO II version, one sensor is installed, in front of the converter). The connection between the catalytic manifold and the exhaust pipe is sealed with heat-resistant (metal-asbestos) gasket. The connection of the exhaust pipe and the additional muffler is made articulated.
Features of the exhaust system of the engine 2111 (1,5i 8V)
The VAZ-2111 engine, depending on the configuration, meets the R83 or EURO II standards for exhaust gas toxicity.
The exhaust manifold of the VAZ-2111 engine is cast iron. The exhaust pipe flange is connected to the exhaust manifold flange with four studs and nuts through a heat-resistant (metal-asbestos) gasket. A catalytic converter is installed on parts of cars equipped for EURO II. It is located under the bottom of the car between the exhaust pipe and the additional muffler. A thermal protective metal screen is attached to the body above the converter. The oxygen concentration sensor is installed at the bottom of the intake pipe in front of the converter. The connection of the intake pipe with the neutralizer is made articulated.
Features of the exhaust system of the engine 21114 (1,6i 8V)
The 21114 engine, depending on the configuration, meets the EURO II or EURO III emission standards.
The 21114 engine exhaust manifold is integrated with the catalytic converter into a single catalytic manifold assembly (collector). The connection between the exhaust pipe and the additional muffler is articulated.
