Before installing the assembled connecting rod and piston group on the engine, check the parallelism of the axes of the group with a special device (pic. 2-34).
To check the bottom end of the connecting rod (without inserts) center on retractable knives 2, and install gauge 4 on the bottom of the piston. Using a set of feelers, check the gap between the vertical plate of the fixture and the vertical plane of the gauge at a distance of 125 mm from the corner or upper end of the gauge (depending on how it touches the plate - the corner or the upper end).
The gap should not exceed 0.4 mm. If the clearance is greater, replace the connecting rod.
