- remove the spare wheel;
- drain the coolant from the radiator and cylinder block and remove the air filter;
- disconnect the wires from the battery, spark plugs and from the coolant temperature indicator sensor; disconnect the choke cable from the carburetor;
- wrench 67.7812.9514 unscrew the spark plugs and coolant temperature sensor;
- disconnect the throttle actuator rods from the intermediate lever and the cylinder head cover and remove the cover;
- turn the crankshaft until the mark on the pulley aligns with the long mark on the camshaft drive cover (see fig. 7-19), and the marks on the camshaft sprocket with the mark on the camshaft bearing housing (see fig. 2-19);
- disconnect the hose from the pipe for supplying fluid to the heater, and from the exhaust manifold - the bracket for fastening the tube for draining fluid from the heater;
- disconnect the hoses from the carburetor, inlet pipeline and from the outlet pipe of the cylinder head cooling jacket;
- disconnect the protective shield of the starter and the exhaust pipe of the mufflers from the exhaust manifold;
- loosen the cap nut of the chain tensioner, press the tensioner rod with a mounting blade and fix it with the cap nut;
- remove the camshaft sprocket and bearing housing together with the camshaft;
- unscrew the bolts securing the cylinder head to the block and remove the head.
- In order to reinstall and fix the head on the cylinder block, carry out the described operations in reverse order, while:
- do not forget to install the cylinder head gasket and head cover gasket;
- tighten the head bolts in the sequence shown on rice. 2-16, and the nuts of the studs of the camshaft bearing housing - in the sequence indicated on rice. 2-18.
Note. The exhaust manifold and intake manifold with carburetor are best left on the head. They can be removed later when disassembling the cylinder head.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in two steps:
- 1st reception - tighten bolts 1-10 (rice. 2-16) torque 33.32-41.16 Nm (3.4-4.2 kgf·m);
- II-nd reception - tighten the bolts 1-10 with a torque of 95.94-118.38 Nm (9.79-12.1 kgf·m), and bolt II - with a torque of 31.36-39.1 N·m (3.2-3.99 kgf·m).
When installing the cylinder head cover with a gasket, tighten the cover fastening nuts with a torque of no more than 8 Nm (0.8 kgf·m), so as not to cause the gasket to break along the mounting holes and warp the cover. When repairing the engine, it is recommended to replace the cover gasket with a new one. After installing the cylinder head, check and adjust the ignition timing.
