The door opening limiter ensures maximum opening of the door and protects the outer door panel from damage against the body pillar. The door is held in the open position by rollers 42 for the stampings of rod 43. Flat rod 43 is hingedly attached to bracket 44 of the pillar with one end using a pin, the other end has pin 40, limiting the maximum opening of the door.
The front door lock is of the rotary type and is fastened with screws to the rear end of the door. When the door is closed, the ratchet 10 acts on the pin 23 of the lock, the ratchet turns, and the pawl 9, under the action of the spring, locks the ratchet by the tooth of one or the other end of the ratchet. The ratchet teeth provide preliminary and complete locking of the door. Preliminary locking prevents the door from opening spontaneously if it is accidentally incompletely closed. The ratchet 10 and pawl 9 are mounted on the axles of the outer lock. The front end of the pin 8 of the outer lock drive enters the inner lock.
The outer door handle 14 with a spring-loaded key 19 and a lock switch 13 is attached to the outer door panel through a sealing gasket 21 with two nuts. The leads 15 and 18 of the key and the lock switch are connected by rods to the lever 5 of the outer drive and the intermediate lever 7 for disengaging the lock. When the key 19 of the outer handle is pressed, its lead 15 presses on the rod 16 and the lever 6 of the outer drive, which in turn acts on the finger of the intermediate lever 4. The intermediate lever 4 presses on the finger 8 of the lock drive, which moves the pawl 9 and releases the ratchet 10. Under the pressure of the compressed seal, the door opens.
When the inner handle 2 of the door is pulled, the rod of the inner drive turns the lever 26 of the inner drive, which with its second end presses on the intermediate lever 4 and through the finger 8 releases the ratchet 10. The door opens.
To prevent access to the car interior from the outside, a lock disengagement is provided, blocking the action of the outer handle. When the lock disengagement button 20 is pressed, the button rod 24 rotates the two-arm lever 25, which with its second end acts on the lever 7. The lever 7 moves the intermediate lever 4 to the side, eliminating the possibility of acting on the pawl 9, and therefore, releasing the lock ratchet.
The lock can be switched on and off by the switch button or the lock switch 13. When the switch key is turned, the switch leash 18 acts directly on the lock switch lever 7 via the switch rod 17.
Front and rear door locks of the VAZ-2109 car. The front door lock differs structurally only in the lengths of some rods.
The rear door lock has an internal door handle lock (see diagram of rear door lock drive) to ensure the safety of transporting children in the back seat. The end of the lever 47 extends into the end of the door, access to it is possible only with the door open. To lock the inner door handle, it is necessary to lower the lever down and close the door before closing the door. In this case, the rear door can only be opened with the outer handle from the outside.
Window lifters
The front door window regulator is cable-operated and is secured to the inner door panel with nuts to welded studs. The window regulator consists of a guide pipe 62 with upper and lower 63 brackets and a window regulator mechanism. The cable 61 embraces two rollers mounted on the axes of the guide pipe brackets. In the housing 55, the cable is wound onto a drum 51, the driven gear of which is engaged with the driving gear 54. The drum is installed with a hub in plastic bushings inserted into the openings of the housing 55 and the cover.
The drive shaft 52 has a spring brake that prevents the glass from lowering spontaneously.
The lever 48 of the window lift handle is placed on the splines of the drive shaft 52 and is secured with the help of the trim 49, which, when installed on the handle, enters the annular groove of the drive shaft. A plastic socket 50 is placed under the handle, pressed by the door trim.
The rear door window regulator of the VAZ-2109 car differs slightly in the design of the brackets and guide pipe.
The tailgate lock consists of a housing 29, which contains a hook 27 with a spring, a button 28, locked with a key, and a button spring. The hook of the lock engages with the tooth of the retainer 31, which is attached to the upper crossbar of the rear of the body. To prevent vibration of the tailgate, the lock has a special pin 30, which, when the door is closed, enters a conical socket in the upper part of the retainer 31.
The hood lock with hook 33 is installed in the front part of the hood, the lock drive is on the upper crossbar of the front. The lock is opened by handle 39, located in the passenger compartment of the car on the left side under the instrument panel. Hook 33 with spring 34 prevents spontaneous opening of the hood. The hook engages with a tooth on the upper crossbar of the front of the body. To open the hood, unlock the hood lock with handle 39 and additionally move the hook to the side through the gap formed under the hood.
The lock drive is cable-operated. The handle 39 of the lock is connected by a rod 38 to a spring 32, which fixes the hood by the head of the pin 37 in the closed position. The pin is screwed into the hood plate and locked by a lock nut 35.
In the open position, the hood is held by a metal stop.
