Checking the technical condition of the cardan shaft without disassembling (VAZ-21213)

After cleaning and washing the cardan shafts, check the cardan joints of the shafts for ease and smoothness of fork rotation and for the absence of significant axial and radial clearances.

Check the balance of the cardan shafts on a balancing stand as indicated below.

If the forks rotate smoothly, there is no jamming, the imbalance of the drive shafts of the drive axles does not exceed 1.716 N·mm (175 gf mm), and the intermediate shaft 2.16 N·mm (200 gf mm) and grease is not ejected through the bearing seals of the crosspieces and the protective cover of the intermediate shaft, then disassembling the cardan shafts is not recommended.
