Removal and installation the cardan shaft (VAZ-21213)

Place the vehicle on a lift or inspection pit, ensuring that the front and rear wheels on one or both sides of the vehicle can rotate freely.

Securely park the vehicle, release the parking brake and place the gearshift lever in neutral.

Remove the front and rear propeller shafts.

Install clamp A.70025 on the flexible coupling 3 of the intermediate shaft (fig. 3-14) and, turning the shaft, unscrew the nuts of the bolts securing the elastic coupling to the flange of the secondary shaft of the gearbox. Remove the transfer case (see subsection. "Transfer case") assembled with the intermediate shaft. Unscrew the nuts of the studs securing the intermediate shaft joint to the flange of the transfer case drive shaft and remove the intermediate shaft.

The installation of the cardan shafts is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the intermediate shaft together with the transfer case, install the centering ring of the elastic coupling on the secondary shaft of the gearbox. When installing the intermediate cardan shaft, ensure the centering of the shafts of the gearbox and transfer case (see "Installing a transfer case").

Before installing the intermediate shaft, apply 2-3 g of SHRUS-4 grease to the inner surface of the flange centering sleeve.
