To find the true cause of the leak, you need to know some of the features of Tosol. So, for example, leakage is more easily detected on a cold engine; apparently, cooled Tosol has a better penetrating ability.
There are frequent cases when no searches and observations with passion reveal the place of the leak, and Tosol still decreases. In this case, special measures cannot be dispensed with. Check how tight the pressurized cooling system is. It is convenient to use a foot pump for inflating tires, as it is equipped with a pressure gauge. Making a simple adapter (pic. 50), insert it into the radiator pipe instead of the temporarily removed plastic hose going to the expansion tank, and by connecting the pump hose, bring the pressure in the system to 0.1 MNa. If there is a leak through leaks in the joints, it will immediately give itself away.
It happens «guilty» in excessive consumption of coolant radiator. If you find a defect while on the road, it makes sense to try to fix it (temporarily to the nearest station) small measures, i.e., seal the hearth with plasticine, if it accidentally lay at the ready, or with soap.
Upon reaching the workshop, where they are able to repair the radiator, drain the remaining coolant into a clean vessel, after unscrewing the drain cocks (traffic jams) in the lower radiator tank and on the cylinder block and removing the covers (traffic jams) radiator and expansion tank. The location of the plug in the lower tank is weak, so when unscrewing the plug with one key with a second key of 17 mm, support the plug so as not to tear it out of the body of the tank.
To remove the radiator, loosen the clamp on the radiator inlet hose and remove the hose from the inlet pipe. Do the same with the outlet hose clamp and remove the hose from the outlet. Loosen the expansion tank pipe clamp and remove the pipe from the radiator neck pipe. Separate the upper and lower halves of the fan shroud and remove them from the heatsink. Loosen the nuts securing the radiator to the body and carefully remove the radiator from the engine compartment.
On vehicles with an electric fan, before removing the radiator, it is necessary to dismantle the electric fan. The radiator is installed in its place in the reverse order.
It rarely happens that the coolant (it has excellent penetrating power - better than water) finds a loophole through the water pump seal. To almost certainly check the condition of the water pump bearings (and consequently, a violation of the tightness of the stuffing box), you need to check for backlash. This operation is performed by trying to move the fan or crankshaft pulley away from you and towards you. A noticeable backlash is a sign of bearing wear and the need to measure the stuffing box. Having found this, it makes sense to contact a service station, since special pullers are needed to disassemble the pump. True, the operation can be performed on its own, using the idea of a motorist from the city of Ochemchire. Sleeve 5 (pic. 51) and adjusting bolt 6, serve under normal conditions as a support for the lever in the valve drive. A ball 4 with a diameter of 12 mm is placed in the impeller of the water pump, then the sleeve 5 is screwed in until it stops, and then the bolt 6 is screwed in. The impeller 3 easily comes off the shaft 2 located in block 1.
It is very unpleasant when no traces of the leaking liquid are found, but it still disappears. Most likely, she found her way into the crankcase. And if this is indeed the case, then the oil level (now diluted with antifreeze) should increase. Such a defect should be dealt with by specialists at a service station.
