The cooling system differs only in the installation of an aluminum radiator. The radiator is tubular and plate, aluminum, with plastic tanks. The coolant is poured through the filler neck of the expansion tank, the plug of which has inlet and outlet valves.
Radiator
Removing from the vehicle. To remove the radiator from the vehicle:
- remove the spare tire and remove the spare tire support tube;
- drain the fluid from the radiator and cylinder block through the drain plugs in the left radiator tank and cylinder block; at the same time, open the heater tap and remove the plug from the radiator filler neck;
- disconnect the hoses from the radiator;
- remove the fan shroud by first separating the shroud halves;
- unscrew the two bolts securing the radiator to the body, release the upper latch of the radiator guide shroud upwards, move the top of the radiator towards the engine and remove it from the engine compartment;
- remove the radiator guide shroud.
Checking the radiator for leaks. The tightness of the radiator is checked in a bath of water.
After plugging the radiator pipes, supply air to it under a pressure of 0.2 MPa (2 kgf/cm²) and lower it into a bath of water for at least 30 s. No air leakage should be observed.
If the radiator is damaged or leaking, repair it or replace it with a new one.
Radiator repair. If the aluminum tubes are damaged, disassemble the radiator, drill out the defective tubes on both sides with a drill of 8.5 mm in diameter to a depth of 25-30 mm. Insert into the defective tubes repair tubes flared at one end with an internal diameter of 7.3 mm and a wall thickness of 0.5 mm. Then, on a special stand, press through the tubes with a steel mandrel of 7.5 in diameter+0,05 mm along the entire length.
On the tube expansion stand, expand the repair tubes simultaneously from both ends of each.
Assemble the radiator and check its tightness.
Lubrication system
The system is distinguished by the installation of an oil pump with increased productivity. The length of the leading and driven gears is increased by 6 mm.
