Attention! We carry out work on a viewing ditch or a lift. When working on a viewing ditch, hang out the rear of the car.
Disconnect the propeller shaft from the main gear drive flange (see Removing the cardan shaft).
Removing the rear brake pads (see Replacing the rear brake pads).
We unscrew the bolts securing the holders of the shell of the rear cable of the parking brake system to the brake shields and remove the cable ends from their holes (see Adjustment and removal of components of the parking brake system).
Removing the rear brake hose (see Removing the rear brake hose).
We disconnect the tip of the rear brake pressure regulator lever to the rear axle bracket rod (see Checking the performance and adjusting the drive of the rear brake pressure regulator).
Disconnect the upper longitudinal and transverse rods from the beam (see Removing the upper longitudinal bar, And Removing the cross bar).
We substitute stops under the beam.
We disconnect the lower longitudinal rods from the shock absorber mounting beam (see Removing the shock absorber, And Removing the lower longitudinal bar).
Lowering the beam, remove the rear suspension springs.
We take the beam.
Install the beam in reverse order.
We finally tighten the nuts for fastening the rods and shock absorbers in the position «car on wheels».
Helpful Hints
- 1 - bracket (corner 40x40 mm);
- 2 - trunk floor;
- 3 - overlay.
Strengthening the shock absorber
When fatigue cracks appear at the points of attachment of the rear shock absorbers to the body, it is possible to strengthen the attachment by installing two corners. Dimension A must be determined locally. It depends on the geometry of the body.
If you intend to drive on bad roads with a load, it is better to make such an increase immediately on a new car.
Ball - assistant for pressing
If, when replacing the rubber bushings in the suspension rods, the metal bushing does not want to get into place, and there is no conical mandrel or tool head with different outer diameters, the ball from the bearing, which should be slightly larger than the diameter of the bushing, will help. By lubricating the ball with soap, you can easily install the sleeve.
