ring wrench «on 10» unscrew the eight nuts securing the front cover to the gearbox housing.
Taking off the lid...
...and a gasket.
head «on 10» unscrew the bolt securing the retaining plate of the left bearing cover of the differential box..
... and remove the plate.
Similarly, remove the lock plate of the right cover.
head «at 19» unscrew the four nuts securing the bearing caps of the differential box.
We remove the washers from the studs.
Prying off with a screwdriver..
... remove the cover of the left bearing of the differential box.
To remove the right bearing cover, screw the bolt into the hole for securing the locking plate..
... and, pulling the bolt, remove the cover.
Take out the adjusting nuts.
We remove the differential box assembly with the driven gear of the final drive.
Removal of the driven gear and disassembly of the differential of the front axle gearbox are similar to the corresponding work described in the section Disassembly of the rear axle gearbox.
We remove the drive gear oil seal from the socket of the gearbox housing (see Replacing the drive gear oil seal).
We remove the oil deflector from the shank of the drive gear.
We take out the inner ring of the rear bearing of the drive gear with the cage and rollers.
We take out the drive gear with the inner ring, cage, spacer sleeve and front bearing rollers.
By striking with a hammer on the drift, we knock out the outer ring of the front bearing..
...and take it out.
Similarly, dismantle the outer ring of the rear bearing.
When oil leaks from under the lower cover of the crankcase of the front axle gearbox..
... head «on 10» unscrew the eight bolts of its fastening.
Taking off the lid..
...and a gasket.
To check the technical condition of parts, see section Disassembly of the rear axle gearbox. In addition, we check the condition of the bearings of the housings of the internal hinges of the drives. Gear housing seats must be free of cracks and wear marks. Worn and damaged parts are replaced with new ones.
We press in the new outer rings of the bearings of the drive gear with suitable pipe sections.
Assembly and adjustment of the front axle gearbox are similar to the operations described in the section Disassembly of the rear axle gearbox.
To set the preload of the bearings of the differential box, sequentially and evenly tighten both adjusting nuts of the bearings until the distance between the covers is 0.08–0.11 mm.
We replace the sealing gaskets of the gearbox covers with new ones. Before installation, apply sealant to the gaskets.
