2. We wash the gearbox housings and other parts with diesel fuel or kerosene, wipe them dry.
Lubricate the friction surfaces of parts during assembly with clean gear oil.
3. We press in a new shaft seal of the gear selection mechanism using a mandrel or a 22 mm socket.
4. Install the gear selector rod and its lever. At the same time, we degrease the threaded part of the lever fastening screw with a solvent and apply a thread-locking adhesive to it.
5. Install the gear selection mechanism.
6. We press new outer rings of the shaft and differential bearings into the seats of the gearbox housings, using the old bearings as mandrels. Before pressing the outer ring of the differential bearing into the clutch housing, we put the adjusting ring in its seat (see "Gearbox adjustment ring - selection of rings").
7. We press in new front wheel drive seals (see "Replacing the front wheel drive oil seals").
8. We install the differential, primary, secondary shafts and reverse gear in the clutch housing.
9. It is more convenient to put the mandrel for fixing the side gears in the hole of the differential box from the side of the driven gear of the final drive, but before installing the gearbox housing, move the mandrel to the opposite hole of the differential box (from the clutch housing).
We further assemble the gearbox in the reverse order of disassembly (see par. 1-33 "Gearbox - disassembly and assembly"). Before connecting the gearbox and clutch housings, as well as before installing the rear cover of the gearbox housing, degrease their mating surfaces with a solvent, apply sealant to their mating surfaces.
Warning. Do not install any shims between the clutch and transmission housings, as this will cause the bearings to be misaligned.
