Install the camshaft with the outer journals on two prisms placed on the calibration plate, and measure the radial runout of the middle journals with an indicator, which should be no more than 0.04 mm. If the runout exceeds the specified value, then straighten the shaft on a straightening press.
Note. On cars manufactured in 1982, camshafts with HDTV hardened cams were installed. Since April 1982, nitrided camshafts have been installed. Since 1984, the year of manufacture has been marked on the shafts. Since 1985, camshafts with camshafts have been installed on parts of cars. These shafts have a distinctive hex collar between the 3 and 4 jaws.
Checking the bearing housing
Wash and clean the camshaft bearing housing and oil passages.
Check the diameter of the holes in the supports If the clearance between the camshaft journals and the supports is greater than 0.2 mm (wear limit), replace the bearing housing.
Internal bearing surfaces must be smooth, free of burrs; if there is damage, replace the bearing housing.
Check for cracks on the case. If there are cracks, replace the camshaft bearing housing.
