Windshield wiper and washer connection diagram: 1 - windshield washer motor; 2 – the electric motor of a cleaner of a windshield; 3 - ignition switch; 4 - ignition relay; 5 - fuse block; 6 – the switch of a cleaner and a washer of a windshield; 7 - conditional numbering of plugs in the switch block; 8 - windshield wiper relay; 9 - conditional numbering of the plugs in the relay blocks and the windshield wiper motor.
The wiper consists of a gearmotor, levers and brushes. The electric motor of the cleaner is two-brush, with excitation from permanent magnets, single-speed. To protect against overloads, a thermal bimetallic fuse is installed in it.
Technical characteristics of the gearmotor
Maximum effective torque on the gearmotor shaft at 14 V supply voltage and ambient temperature environments (25±10) °С, N·m (kgf·m) | 2 (0,2)
|
Shaft speed under the same conditions under load 1 Nm (0.1 kgf·m), min –1 , not less | 50
|
Consumed under these conditions current, A, no more | 2,8

The purifier has two modes of operation - continuous and intermittent; they are activated by the right steering column switch. Intermittent operation is provided by a relay type RS-514, attached with two nuts to the front left sidewall. The relay must provide 9–17 motor starts per minute at temperatures from -20 to 50°C and a supply voltage of 10 V. (When the wiper is switched on in intermittent mode, the wipers can make up to four continuous double strokes.) Relay solenoid winding resistance - (66±2) Ohm, breaker windings - (23±1) Ohm.
It is recommended to replace a defective gearmotor with a new one. Bent levers are straightened, when the hinges are worn, they are replaced.
The windshield washer consists of a polyethylene tank with an electric pump installed in the engine compartment, washer nozzles located on the hood, and flexible connecting hoses.
The washer is activated by pulling the right stalk switch towards you (non-fixed position). If the pump fails, replace it. Clogged nozzles can be blown in the opposite direction or cleaned with a fishing line or a thin needle.
