Carry out wet grinding of the surfaces to be painted with sanding sheets 68S 8-P or 55S 4-P. With a small thickness of the coating that does not have mechanical damage, sand the surface to an epoxy primer, factory painted. In case of significant corrosion, as well as surfaces previously painted with nitro enamel, clean to metal.
Wash the body with water, blow with compressed air and dry.
Degrease the surfaces to be painted with white spirit or BR-1 solvent gasoline. Coat with sealant «plastisol D-4A» welds and joints of replaced parts. Remove excess mastic with a rag moistened with white spirit.
Insulate non-paintable surfaces with thick paper and adhesive tape.
Apply primer GF-073 or VL-023 with a paint sprayer to areas of the surface cleaned to metal and allow an exposure of 5 minutes. The viscosity of the soil should be 22-24 s at a temperature of 20°C according to the VZ-4 viscometer. Dilute the soil with xylene.
Apply primer EP-0228 with a paint sprayer on surfaces coated with primer GF-073 or VL-023, as well as on replaced body parts, and dry at a temperature of 90°C for 60 minutes. Before applying, add NF-1 desiccant 6-8% or MTT-75 catalyst 3-4% of the soil weight to the primer EP-0228. Shelf life of the finished primer with a catalyst is 7 hours. The viscosity of the soil should be 23-25 s at a temperature of 20°C according to the VZ-4 viscometer. The soil can be diluted with RE-11V solvent or xylene.
Cool the body, carry out wet sanding with 55C 4-P sandpaper, wash with water, blow with compressed air and dry.
Putty, if necessary, uneven places with putty MS-00-6 with a thickness of not more than 0.3 mm. Thin the thickened putty with xylene to a viscosity suitable for application.
Dry the body for 30 minutes at a temperature of 18-20°C, sand the puttied surfaces with sandpaper, wash the body, blow it with compressed air and dry it.
Isolate the non-paintable surfaces of the body with thick paper, adhesive tape and install it in the spray booth.
Degrease the surfaces to be painted with white spirit.
Open the doors, the hood and apply two layers of enamel ML-197 or ML-1195 with an intermediate exposure time of 7-10 minutes with a paint sprayer on the interior surfaces of the passenger compartment, doorways, end surfaces of the doors, engine compartment and luggage compartment.
Apply three layers of enamel on the outer surfaces of the body with an intermediate exposure of 7-10 minutes.
Dry the coating at 90°C for 1 hour and refrigerate naturally.
Before use, add 10% DGU-70 catalyst to the enamel. For MJT-197 enamels, 20% maleic anhydride in ethyl acetate is acceptable. The viscosity of the enamel should be 20 s according to VZ-4. Dilute the enamel with P-197 solvent, followed by filtration through a No. 015 K mesh.
If it is necessary to remove the old complex coating, use the SP-7 remover. Apply it with a brush 2-3 times depending on the thickness of the paintwork.
The softening time of the coating with a wash is 30-40 minutes. Remove the softened coating with a brush or spatula.
Wipe the surface with mineral spirits to remove the remaining wash, rinse with plenty of water and dry the body.
