2. Carry out wet grinding of the surfaces to be painted with 55C 4-P sanding papers. With a small thickness of the coating that does not have mechanical damage, sand the surface to the epoxy primer of the factory color. In case of significant corrosion, as well as surfaces previously painted with nitro enamel, clean to metal.
3. Wash the body with water, blow with compressed air and dry.
4. Degrease the surfaces to be painted with white spirit or BR-1 thinner gasoline and coat with sealing mastic «plastisol D-4A» welds and joints of replaced parts. Remove excess mastic with a rag moistened with white spirit.
5. Insulate non-paintable surfaces with thick paper and adhesive tape.
6. Apply primer GF-073 to the surface areas cleaned to metal with a paint sprayer and let it stand for 5 minutes.
7. The viscosity of the soil should be 22–24 s at a temperature of 20°C according to the VZ-4 viscometer. Dilute the soil with xylene.
8. Then apply epoxy primer EF-083 with a paint sprayer on the surfaces covered with primer GF-073, as well as on replaced body parts, and dry at a temperature of 90°C for 60 minutes. Before applying, add the NF-1 desiccant to the primer EF-083, in a proportion of 5–7% of the weight of the primer. The shelf life of the finished soil with a catalyst is 7 hours. The viscosity of the soil should be 23–25 s at a temperature of 20°C according to the VZ-4 viscometer. The soil can be diluted with RE-11V solvent or xylene.
9. Cool the body, carry out wet sanding with 55C 4-P sandpaper, wash with water, blow with compressed air and dry.
10. Putty, if necessary, uneven places with putty MS-00-6 with a thickness of not more than 0.3 mm. Thin the thickened putty with xylene to a viscosity suitable for application.
11. Dry the body for 30 minutes at a temperature of 18–20°C, sand the puttied surfaces again with sandpaper 55C 4-P, rinse the body, blow it with compressed air and dry it.
12. Isolate the non-paintable surfaces of the body with thick paper, adhesive tape and install it in the spray booth.
13. Degrease the surfaces to be painted with white spirit.
14. Open the doors, hood, trunk lid and apply two layers of ML-197 enamel with a paint sprayer (with an intermediate exposure of 7-10 minutes) on the internal painted surfaces of the passenger compartment, engine compartment, luggage compartment, doorways, end surfaces of doors.
15. Apply three layers of ML-197 enamel on the outer surfaces of the body with an intermediate exposure of 7–10 minutes.
16. Dry the body at 90°C for one hour and refrigerate naturally.
17. Before use, add 4–5% DGU-70 catalyst or 10% maleic anhydrate in acetate to the enamel. The viscosity of the enamel should be 20 s at a temperature of 20°C according to the VZ-4 viscometer. Dilute the enamel with P-197 solvent, followed by filtration through a No. 015K mesh.
18. If it is necessary to remove the old complex coating, use the SP-7 remover. Apply it with a brush 2-3 times, depending on the thickness of the paintwork.
20. The softening time of the coating with a wash is 30–40 minutes. Remove the softened coating with a brush or spatula.
21. Wipe the surface with white spirit to remove the remains of the wash, rinse with plenty of water and dry the body.
