Precautions when operating a vehicle (VAZ-21213)

            0

During the first 2000-3000 km of a new car:
  • 1. Before each trip, check and adjust the air pressure in your tires to the correct level.
  • 2. Avoid driving on difficult roads (deep mud or snow, sand, steep climbs).
  • 3. Do not tow a trailer.
  • 4. Shift to a lower gear in the gearbox in time according to driving conditions, avoiding engine overload.
  • 5. Do not change the oil in the engine crankcase, as the factory fills it with a special oil that improves the running-in of engine parts.

The car is easy to drive, has high dynamic and speed qualities on the highway, as well as increased cross-country ability in conditions of wet dirt roads, sandy and snowy terrain. However, you should always remember that the car is not designed for constant use in difficult road conditions.

When operating the vehicle on difficult road sections (mud, sand) after a thorough wash, you should check the condition of the protective rubber covers of the suspension ball joints, steering rod joints, and front wheel drive joints more often. If necessary, replace damaged covers with new ones, since dirt and water getting into them cause increased wear of the joints.

Do not exceed the vehicle load specified in the Manual. Overloading will damage the front suspension components, bend the rear axle beam, cause premature tire wear, cause body vibration, and cause the vehicle to lose stability. The load weight with the roof rack installed on the vehicle must not exceed 50 kg without exceeding the payload.

In cold weather, before turning on the windshield wipers, make sure that the brushes are not frozen to the glass. Failure to follow this recommendation may lead not only to the breakage of the brushes, but also to the failure of their electric drives.

The soft suspension of the car absorbs vibrations well even when driving fast on uneven roads. However, sharp impacts can deform the axles of the lower arms and damage other parts of the chassis of the car. Therefore, when driving on such roads, do not develop high speed.

For lubricating units and assemblies, filling the fuel tank, use materials recommended by the manufacturer. Failure to comply with this recommendation will result in premature failure of the vehicle units. It should be especially remembered that AI-93 gasoline, colored orange-red, is leaded. Leaded gasoline is poisonous. Therefore, do not allow it to come into contact with the skin of your hands, clothing, interior upholstery, and do not perform work that could result in leaded gasoline or its vapors getting into the oral cavity.

Do not engage the starter while the engine is running. This may cause damage to the pinion gear teeth or flywheel.

It is not allowed to move the car from a standstill using the starter. Start the car in first gear with the parking brake lever fully lowered. Remember that exhaust gases are poisonous. Therefore, the room where the engine is started and warmed up must be well ventilated.

Do not operate the vehicle with the low oil pressure warning light on. The light may come on at minimum crankshaft speed in idle mode. Lighting of the light in operating engine modes indicates insufficient pressure in the lubrication system.

Never allow the engine to run at a speed where the tachometer needle is in the red zone of the scale. A tachometer needle in the yellow zone signals that the crankshaft speed is approaching the maximum permissible one.

Operating tires at pressures other than those recommended will result in premature wear and tear, as well as reduced vehicle stability and control.

The car's design uses highly efficient front disc brakes. However, their long-lasting operation can only be ensured with proper care - do not allow dried dirt to accumulate in the brake mechanisms and flush them after driving through deep mud.

Always keep the battery terminals and clamps clean and their connections secure. Remember that oxidation of terminals and clamps, as well as their careless connection, cause sparking at the point of unreliable contact, which can lead to failure of the vehicle's electronic equipment. For the same reason, it is not allowed to check the generator's performance with the engine running by removing the clamps from the battery.

The vehicle is equipped with a high-energy ignition system. Therefore, it is not allowed to start the engine using a spark gap, and with the engine running, disconnect the high-voltage wires and check the high-voltage circuits for a "spark", as this can lead to burnout of high-voltage components and failure of the ignition system.

When installing the battery on the vehicle, make sure that the wires are connected in accordance with the polarity indicated on their ends and the battery terminals (the positive terminal is larger than the negative one).

When charging the battery directly on the car from an external power source, be sure to disconnect it from the generator. The battery is connected to the "30" terminal of the generator with a positive wire (the "+" tip).

Lighting up the lamp "CHECK ENGINE" with the engine running with the fuel injection system does not mean that the engine must be stopped immediately; the controller has backup modes that allow the engine to operate under conditions close to normal. However, the cause of the lamp lighting should be determined by a service facility as soon as possible.

A car engine with a fuel injection system with a catalytic converter and an oxygen concentration sensor works properly if only unleaded gasoline is used. Leaded gasoline quickly disables these elements, smoky exhaust appears, and fuel consumption increases sharply.

The neutralizer may also fail if there are misfires in the ignition system, since in this case clean fuel will flow into the neutralizer and the temperature in it will increase sharply, which will cause cracks in the ceramic block. Therefore, regularly perform all maintenance work on the ignition system prescribed by the service book. For the same reason, do not start the engine by towing.

Since the catalytic converter is very hot, make sure that there is no dry grass or other flammable material under the catalytic converter when parking the vehicle (rags, shavings, etc.).
