Carry out wet grinding of the surfaces to be painted with sanding sheets 68S 8-P or 55S 4-P. With a small thickness of the coating that does not have mechanical damage, sand the surface to the epoxy primer of the factory color. In case of significant corrosion, as well as surfaces previously painted with nitro enamel, clean to metal.
Wash the body with water, blow with compressed air, and dry.
Degrease the surfaces to be painted with white spirit or BR-1 thinner gasoline and coat with sealing mastic «plastisol D-4A» welds and joints of replaced parts. Remove excess mastic with a rag moistened with white spirit.
Insulate non-paintable surfaces with thick paper and adhesive tape.
Apply primer GF-073 or VL-023 with a paint sprayer to areas of the surface cleaned to metal and allow an exposure of 5 minutes. The viscosity of the soil should be 22-24 s at a temperature of 20°C according to the VZ-4 viscometer. Dilute the soil with xylene.
Apply primer EP-0228 with a paint sprayer on surfaces coated with GF-073 or VL-023 primer, as well as on replaced body parts and dry at a temperature of 90°C for 60 minutes. Before application, add NF-1 desiccant to the primer EP-0228 (6-8) % or MTT-75 catalyst (3-4) % of soil weight. The shelf life of the finished soil with a catalyst is 7 hours. The viscosity of the soil should be 23-25 s according to the VZ-4 viscometer. Dilute the primer with RE-11V solvent or xylene.
Cool the body, carry out wet sanding with 55C 4-P sandpaper, wash with water, blow with compressed air and dry.
Putty, if necessary, uneven places with putty, dry the body and sand the putty surfaces with sanding paper 55C 4-P. Rinse the body, blow with compressed air and dry.
Isolate unpainted surfaces with thick paper, adhesive tape and place the body in the spray booth.
Degrease the surfaces to be painted with white spirit.
Apply two coats of ML-197 or ML-1195 enamel with an intermediate holding time of 7-10 minutes with a paint sprayer on the internal painted surfaces of the passenger compartment, doorways, end surfaces of doors, engine compartment, luggage compartment.
Also, with an intermediate exposure of 7-10 minutes, apply three layers of enamel on the outer surfaces of the body.
Dry the coating at 90°C for one hour and refrigerate naturally.
Before using the enamel, add 10% DGU-70 catalyst to it. For ML-197 enamels, 20% maleic anhydrite in ethyl acetate is allowed. The viscosity of the enamel should be 20 s according to VZ-4. Thin the enamel with R-197 thinner.
If it is necessary to remove the old complex coating, use the SP-7 remover. Apply it with a brush 2-3 times, depending on the thickness of the paintwork.
The softening time of the coating with a wash is 30-40 minutes. Remove the softened coating with a brush or spatula.
Wipe the surfaces with mineral spirits to remove the remains of the wash, rinse with plenty of water and dry the body.
