Hang and remove the front wheels.
Remove the mudguards and the protective plate of the engine oil pan. Remove the upper and lower control arms. We remove the steering knuckles assembled with the upper and lower ball bearings, wheel hubs, front brake mechanisms. We unscrew the nuts for fastening the rubber-metal suspension pads of the power unit from the cross member brackets (see relevant sections).
Installing supports..
... under the crankcase of the front axle gearbox..
... and under the generator bracket.
ring wrench «at 19» we unscrew the two nuts of the bolts securing the right bracket of the rebound buffer to the cross member.
We hold the bolts from turning with a head of the same dimension.
We take out the bolts.
head «at 17» unscrew the nut securing the rebound buffer bracket to the upper spring support..
... and remove the bracket.
Similarly, we remove the left bracket of the rebound buffer,..
... only remove the bracket mounting bolts towards the engine compartment.
ring wrench «at 19» unscrew the two nuts securing the cross member to the right side member..
... and two nuts for fastening to the left side member.
We remove the crossbar.
Nuts of bolts of fastening of the top support of a spring to a crosspiece are locked by welding.
If necessary, disconnect the cross member and the upper spring support, cut off the nuts.
We measure the distance between the outer surfaces of the upper arm mounting brackets.
For a serviceable cross member, this distance is 736±1.5 mm. When the crossbar is deformed (distance change) we replace it.
